Volume One Chapter Four of my book is entitled ‘Overcoming and Eradicating Sin From Your Life’.
This chapter of the book opens with the following paragraphs:
‘God has laid on my heart a deep, deep desire to see men saved from the ravages of sin caused by Satan and his evil forces. All too often, I have found myself standing by while good men, godly men even, are taken out by Satan. What do I mean by men ‘being taken out’? I mean destruction! Marriages ending, businesses folding, sons’ and daughters’ lives turned upside down, murder, rape, suicide, broken hearts. The list goes on. You name it, it is going on every day somewhere in the world. And it’s happening to Christian men as well as unbelieving men. What’s more, it can happen to you. It starts in the mind…. Subtle lies whispered into your mind by Satan and his demons. You believe the lie, you act upon it, and by doing so, you lose the battle. You know the kind of thing he whispers….
“That woman down the street is far more beautiful than your wife. She would bring the fun back into your life.”
“Why don’t you get divorced, you’ll be free then. You’ll have your life back again – the children will understand.”
“Try these porn sites, no-one will know and it’s so much fun.”
“Just borrow a little more money to expand your business; your accountant will be happy to ‘cook the books’. Put your staff on short time, profits will soar and your family will be so pleased with you as they see the fruits of your labour.”
“You’ll never get out of the mess you’re in. Your integrity is shot. Best solution? If I were you, I’d take my own life. No more bills to pay, no more worry, peace at last.”
These and countless others, are lies of Satan, and we need to see them for what they are. Referring to Satan, Jesus said this (John chapter 10 verse 10)...
“The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows].” (AMP).
There are many lies that Satan wants you to believe. The first one is that he doesn’t exist; that he is just a figment of your imagination. The second is this: ‘You can indulge in sin and have and enjoy life and have it to the full’.’
I then go on to explain and define what sin is. The next section discusses what makes us sin, followed by what the key sins are that men struggle with, and then - what I believe is the most important section of this chapter – Dealing with SECRET SINS. I then talk about why we should seek to stop sinning, and finally HOW to stop sinning.
